Ferrari decides on which driver will replace Badoer

According to the Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, two drivers are being considered to replace the unconvincing Italian Luca Badoer in the second F60 of Scuderia Ferrari.

The Polish Robert Kubica and the Italian Giancarlo Fisichella are, according to the Italian sports newspaper, the top candidates for the second Ferrari seat for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, which will take place on September 13. Kubica is Maranello’s first choice, and in Germany, it is believed that BMW has already received the request to let him go. For such an operation to happen, Munich would demand engine support for the new team of which Peter Sauber would be the main shareholder. This future team is still looking for another buyer, notes the Italian sports newspaper.

According to the Gazetta, Kubica might receive an offer for next season to be a driver, given BMW’s withdrawal at the end of the year. Meanwhile, there are still questions about the health of Brazilian driver, Felipe Massa.

The second most serious candidate would be Fisichella. Indeed, the possibility is being studied closely as the Italian could become a test driver at Maranello at the end of the season. According to the Gazette, the Force India team might decide to let their Italian driver go because the Indian team still owes Ferrari a sum of 4.2 million euros to settle debts. Fisichella would have significantly increased his chances for the second seat in the F60 after his superb second place at Spa-Francorchamps.

In any case, it seems very certain that Massa’s current replacement should leave his seat after only two races. In these races, the Italian would not have enchanted Ferrari, nor the tifosi, by finishing at the very bottom each time.
