Force India can be confident about its chances of doing well at the Italian Grand Prix, after successful aerodynamic tests at Cotswold Airport last week.
The team had planned this test well before its extraordinary performance at Spa-Francorchamps. This also allowed Vitantonio Liuzzi to acclimate to the VJM02 with a special Monza package before this weekend’s action kicks off.
Mark Gris, the aerodynamic supervisor of the Force India team, stated that the results of these tests have been very positive and encouraging, giving the team good reasons to be optimistic for Monza.
« It is always pleasant to be able to test on a long straight line. It is also just a few steps away from the factory, which helps,” he said.
The tests we conducted at the airport before Spa were a major factor in the result. We came here earlier than we normally would and had a new aerodynamic package that we were able to evaluate.
Brawn GP also used the 2000 meters of the Cotswold airstrip for aerodynamic tests this year. This track is one of the five facilities in Great Britain approved by the FIA for testing.
