Williams and Force India rejoin FOTA

The Williams and Force India teams have been readmitted to FOTA, the association of Formula 1 teams. They had been suspended following a dispute over the minimum budgets for 2010.

Williams and Force India were excluded from the association at the end of last May when they stopped standing with the other teams in the standoff with the FIA. The two teams had registered for the 2010 World Championship by accepting the FIA’s conditions before the end of negotiations.

The FOTA also announces, through its president Luca di Montezemolo, that it invites the three new teams, namely Campos, USGPE, and Manor, to join them in preparing for the 2010 championship.

« The FOTA reaffirms that any team competing in the Formula One World Championship is eligible to join it, » he stated. « That is why we are pleased to welcome back Williams and Force India. »

The FOTA (Formula One Team Association) also stated its determination to start discussions with Bernie Ecclestone about the future of F1, beyond the current agreements lasting until 2012 inclusive, and to make even more efforts to listen to the fans.
