A short session for the Williams team drivers. 17th position for Japan’s Kazuki Nakajima. 18th place for Nico Rosberg. Neither driver managed to qualify for the second qualifying session, and it’s from the back of the grid that the Williams team will have to start the Italian Grand Prix tomorrow.
The drivers will have the mandate to do their best, and perhaps snag a point with a little help from fate.
Kazuki Nakajima – 14th and 17th:
It was a difficult session for us – we knew it would be, but we’re still disappointed. The gap that separated us from Q2 was really small, and without the traffic, maybe we would have had a better starting position for tomorrow’s race.
Nico Rosberg – 16th and 18th:
I started to find a bit more competitiveness during qualifying today, and we made the right decisions like choosing the soft tires, but I didn’t do the perfect lap, and we didn’t get the best out of the car. I am convinced that things will improve for Singapore, and we will be as competitive as in Valencia.
Patrick Head – Technical Director:
«Clearly, today’s performance is disappointing. But the car cannot do more. Clearly, we haven’t worked enough on the Monza package, and we’re facing the consequences of that. In the meantime, we are confident that we could become competitive again for the next four races. We’ll do our best tomorrow.
