The organizers of the Canadian Grand Prix announced this Monday, in an official press release, that the circuit will return to the calendar for the 2010 season.
It was the first time since 1987 that the Canadian event was not on the calendar. Formula 1 will therefore return to North America after a year’s absence.
« I am very happy and completely satisfied with this result, » said Normand Legault, the promoter of the Canadian F1 Grand Prix. « I have always been confident in our ability to resolve our differences, given the deep understanding I have had to develop about the Formula 1 situation in Canada. »
And I am particularly happy that the Canadian Grand Prix is back on the FIA calendar starting in 2010. I never doubted that the Canadian race would regain its rightful place on the FIA calendar, and my discussions with F1 management leave me to believe that the event will make its return.
