Renault remains an option for Kubica for the 2010 season

After the announced departure of BMW from the top category of motorsport, the Pole had considered a deal with Renault before the Singapore scandal cast a cloud over the French team.
Of course, I might have been a little more interested in the FIA’s outcome than if it had been another scandal, explains the 24-year-old Pole in the city-state of Singapore. The Renault team during this scandal lost its leaders Pat Symonds and Flavio Briatore, which does not prevent Robert Kubica from being happy that the French manufacturer remains in F1.
“In the end, Renault is a viable option for the future and for sure, they will stay in Formula 1,” Kubica states positively. “Of course, losing two key people will somewhat change the situation in my opinion, but I don’t know. We will see,” the Pole seems to add.
Another option for Kubica would be to stay in Hinwil and reach an agreement with the new owner of the BMW team. Indeed, the BMW Sauber team has been bought, but securing a spot on the 2010 grid will solely depend on another team dropping out or a regulation change to increase the number of cars from 26 to 28.
“Well, yes and no,” he says when asked if the sale of BMW would be advantageous for him. “It’s great that they can get a solution, a new owner, and new investors, but on the other hand, there’s no room for the moment. So it’s a bit difficult,” adds the Polish driver.
