Villeneuve hopes for a seat in 2010

Jacques Villeneuve paid another visit to the Formula 1 paddocks in Singapore and told the French daily newspaper Le Parisien that he feels reasonably optimistic about a return to Formula 1 next season.

At 38 years old, it is remembered that the Canadian left the top category of motorsport in 2006 after a disappointing stint with BMW Sauber, Renault, and BAR. Jacques Villeneuve had been the Formula 1 world champion with Williams in 1997. « F1 is like a love story, always more interesting when it’s taken away, » states the former Formula 1 driver. The Canadian hopes to become competitive and a hero for his children, just as his father was for him.

He insists that his goal in Singapore was not negotiations, but to socialize with important figures in the F1 world. “I’m not at the negotiation stage yet, but there’s a certain interest,” adds Villeneuve.

The former prodigy states that with the new rules, the work resembles much more what was happening in the 1990s. I have always used less fuel and fewer tires than my teammates. It’s an era that would suit me. The son of Gilles Villeneuve hopes to be able to finalize his plans by Christmas: I don’t want to wait long because I am also working on opportunities in the United States. A time will come when I will probably have to make a choice.
