Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali explains that there is no magic in how things have gone with the Brawn team in the championship. After a dismal 2008 season, the former Honda squad finished with only 14 points last season and faced a future that was decided at the last minute. The Japanese manufacturer withdrew from Formula 1 at the end of the 2008 season. However, the team’s decision to focus their efforts on 2009 very early on has paid off this season. And the Brawn team is on the verge of securing both championship titles.
Stefano Domenicali maintains that the BrawnGP situation is not a miracle, but rather the result of the decision to focus last year on the start of the 2009 season.
« I am not surprised, it’s certain that they did an excellent job and I think they were able to prepare the car in the best way possible, because they had a lot of time to prepare it. And we must not forget that. I think the reasons why they were so strong are quite clear and I am very happy for Ross for what they have achieved. But nothing is magical, with time and resources, I think you can do a good job. And Ross Brawn’s team did a fantastic job this year and that is why I think they will win the 2 titles. I will be sure to extend my congratulations when it happens to Ross and his team, but it is too early now. »
The boss of the Scuderia Ferrari believes that the competitiveness of the Brawn GP car will not only be for this season and he thinks that the team will fight at the top in the future.
« I have a lot of respect for Ross, plus he’s a friend. It’s certain he will do everything he can with the team to ensure that there is a story that continues in the future. But there will be different things next year, and we will have to wait to see the work they are doing, but it’s certain they will be there and fight for the championship in the future. »
