Sébastien Loeb tests himself at the wheel of a GP2

The five-time world rally champion was in Jerez all day Thursday for a test drive in a GP2 single-seater. Sébastien Loeb took part in both sessions of the final day of official testing. Yesterday morning, in the rain, he achieved the 18th fastest time, at 1’31”487, a little less than three seconds off the best time, which was 1’28”875. The best time was set by Spanish driver Dani Clos.

The tricolor driver was faster than seven confirmed drivers in this category. However, in the afternoon, it was more complicated on a dry track for the Frenchman, as he achieved the 25th and last time of the session with 1’28”114. Bruno Senna finishes with the 14th time at 1’27”173 for his return to the track aboard a GP2. The best time of the day is 1’25”970, achieved by Marcus Ericsson.

Sébastien Loeb has already revealed that he would love to participate in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in a Formula 1 car, after the rally season is over. The Frenchman has already driven in F1, the first time in a Renault at the end of 2007 on the Paul Ricard circuit and the second in a Red Bull at the end of 2008 on the Barcelona circuit. The Austrian beverage manufacturer is also one of Citroën’s main sponsors in rallies.
