Kubica: « Renault will take an experienced driver »

Robert Kubica indicated yesterday in the paddocks that Renault is considering appointing an experienced driver to be his teammate. Rookie Romain Grosjean, who apparently disappointed under the spotlight, is already under pressure to be let go at the end of the season after Flavio Briatore chose him to replace Nelson Piquet. One can also imagine that Renault wants to restore its reputation by erasing anything remotely related to the crash-gate affair. Drivers Heikki Kovalainen, Timo Glock, and Nick Heidfeld are the names linked to the team in 2010.

« I think there are enough experienced drivers who interest Renault for next year. » Declared the Pole.

The future Renault driver says he is not involved in the decision regarding his teammate and declined to confirm or deny reports that his contract with the Vitry Chatillion team is only for the 2010 season. He also stated that he was relaxed about the team’s future despite the turbulence of the crash-gate.

« Renault is a team that has had difficult months in the past, there have been some uncertain moments for me and for its future, » he admitted. « But once they decided to continue, the decision was quite easy. »
