Button is ready to defend his title

Jenson Button, reigning World Champion, having achieved it with the Brawn GP team now known as Mercedes GP, now faces a new challenge in Bahrain this weekend alongside his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

« I am really looking forward to getting into my car on Friday morning in Bahrain knowing that I am the world champion » declares Button, « It’s a responsibility and an honor, but it’s something I want to enjoy for as long as possible. I want to keep the number 1 on my car. »

The previous season was an incredible learning period, and joining the McLaren-Mercedes team gave me exactly the kind of challenge I needed. I worked closely with the engineers, the team, as well as in learning about my car, to ensure that we would start the season in the best possible conditions, continued the reigning world champion.

Regarding the other teams, the titleholder also reserves his opinion. According to him, there are a number of teams and drivers who seem to be in the running and, as at the beginning of each season, it will be fascinating to see which team will be the one to beat.

Four days before the first Grand Prix, the reigning world champion is confident, revealing that he has spent more time with his engineers than in any other season; feeling very comfortable with his preparations.

A relatively calm world champion determined to defend his title this year, starting this weekend.
