Williams has just scored his first point at the Shakir GP in Bahrain, thanks to F1 veteran Rubens Barrichello, who finished in 10th place.
Sam Michael, the technical director of the team, acknowledges that the weekend was complicated:
« We had some issues to resolve in the days leading up to the Grand Prix, it became apparent very early on that we would have to manage, urgently, the preparatory phase for the event to ensure our race on Sunday. »
Faced with these issues, Michael believes that changes could improve the single-seater:
« Because of these issues, we had three or four things on the FW32 in Bahrain that we couldn’t change quickly. Most of these elements can be fixed over the next two races, which should offer us a performance gain. »
The technical director even dares to confide when talking about Barrichello’s sixth fastest time in the race:
« When Rubens set that time, he had done some damage to his car. We expect to be stronger in the upcoming races. »
Regarding the young German rookie Nico Hülkenberg, he is confident for this 2010 season: « Nico is a smart guy who maintains an excellent relationship with his engineers, Tom McCullough and Andrew Murdoch, and I know he will give his full potential. »
