Cosworth: « A Promising Return »

For a return to F1, Cosworth, this great English engine manufacturer, can express its satisfaction after this first Grand Prix in Bahrain, as highlighted by its general manager Mark Gallagher: « After many months of development work and the official announcement of our return as an engine supplier in Formula 1, it’s fantastic to take part in the race. »

With a V8 CA2010 engine block equipping four teams: Williams, Lotus, Virgin Racing, and HRT, Cosworth hopes to regularly see the checkered flag and even score points. Despite the retirements of HRT and Virgin, four single-seaters were able to finish the Sakhir GP. Nico Hülkenberg (Williams) finished in 14th place, while Heikki Kovalainen (Lotus) and Jarno Trulli (Lotus) ended up 15th and 17th.

The best of the “Cosworth” drivers is Rubens Barrichello (Williams), who finishes 10th, thus earning the first point for the English engine manufacturer.

Gallagher analyzes the result: « It is satisfying to see the four teams we power finally in action and to be privileged witnesses to the debut of three new teams in Formula 1… From the engine performance point of view, I think we can be very satisfied with our CA2010 in Bahrain… with Rubens taking a point in the championship for tenth place. »

Beyond the result, all the Cosworth partner teams have positive feedback, which is essential for Mark Gallagher: « We communicate with our technical counterparts in each of the partner teams to ensure that we reach our objectives together. »

« I also spoke with several of the drivers who gave us positive and constructive feedback on the performance and driving pleasure of our CA2010 engine block. »

For the general manager, it is necessary to rely on the data collected over the weekend: « We have accumulated a lot of data on the Bahrain circuit, a track that is very demanding on the engine; all this will be carefully examined and analyzed by our team of engineers upon our return to Northampton. »

After this first GP, Gallagher concludes with these words: « Overall, it’s a good start to the 2010 season for Cosworth in terms of engine performance and reliability. »
