Fernando Alonso wants late races against high heat
Following the controversy of the Qatar Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso proposes an idea to prevent the drivers from suffering too much from the intense heat.
He is not short of ideas. A few weeks after proposing to review the qualification format, Fernando Alonso wants F1 to re-examine the race times in countries where heat is dominant.
In Qatar, this aspect has been controversial. Several drivers have struggled due to very high temperatures. Lance Stroll has fainted several times, Esteban Ocon vomited in his helmet and Logan Sargeant even had to abandon.
Even though F1 has announced decisions, Fernando Alonso hopes new procedures will be put in place. « It was a surprise, to be honest, because things were not going so badly during free practice. Perhaps there was wind or something like that and [on Sunday] this wind was missing, this ventilation. It was extreme. We have to see if, in the future, there is a solution, and in certain extreme conditions, if we can agree to delay the start or something else », explains the Spaniard.
Other drivers like Valtteri Bottas echo the same comments as the Aston Martin driver. Just like several team managers. They, believe that the drivers were almost at the limit due to the intense heat.
