Report: Force India confirms its performance with Sutil

The Force India VJM03 once again proved its good race pace by finishing in the points once more. But this time it was Adrian Sutil, unlucky in the first races, who crossed the finish line in a brilliant fifth position.

Starting from a fine 4th place, the German was overtaken at the start by Kubica’s Renault but fiercely held onto his 5th position, especially against Hamilton’s comeback in the final part of the race.

As for Vitantonio Liuzzi, despite a good start, the Indian car did not last long and the Italian had to return to his pit slowly, suffering from a gearbox problem.

Adrian Sutil – 5th:

The race was exciting and the 5th place finish is a great result. I was hoping for a good race because we were so close in the first two races but bad luck prevented us from scoring. It’s a good overall performance from the team. It was always very tight with Lewis right behind at the end of the race but I knew that if I didn’t make any mistakes I wouldn’t have any issues, so I was just trying to focus. I had to push hard, of course, but it was under control. I think we can continue this in China, we are among the top 10 and we need to keep going like this, Q3 and a few points at each race would be great at this stage of the season.

Vitantonio Liuzzi – Retirement:

I got a good start from 10th place and was in 7th position with a good rhythm, although I was stuck behind Hülkenberg in the Williams. I had difficulty passing him even though I was faster, but we were optimistic for a good race. Unfortunately, I had a clutch problem after 12 laps, and we didn’t exactly understand what happened. It’s disappointing for me, but I’m glad that Adrian was able to score a lot of points to help us in the constructors’ championship.

Vijay Mallya – Director:

«Three races and three times in the points, I am absolutely delighted. Adrian drove a solid race, keeping a cool head under the pressure from Lewis Hamilton right behind him. Once again, we proved the pace of our car and our ability to lead the midfield. It was very disappointing not to have both cars in the points, but overall, it is very positive to see that we can race hard and score well-deserved points.»
