Lewis Hamilton believes he is in a good position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix taking place tomorrow, starting on the right side of the grid with nothing to lose.

The McLaren driver could win the title if he secures victory and if misfortune strikes Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, and Sebastian Vettel.

But he will not focus on the title nor on those capable of winning it, but just on winning the race.

I have nothing to lose, I want to win the race. I’m going to go for it and give everything. I’m not here to hope that the other drivers will have a problem; I’m here to win the race and what happens afterward doesn’t matter to me. I hope Jenson will be with me so that we achieve a good result for the team – the top two spots would be the best. But I can’t influence what happens behind me, all I can do is influence my position, and I’ll do everything to win the race.

The Briton said he was not worried about interfering in the battle between Alonso and the Red Bull drivers: «I don’t have to worry about who’s around me.»

I need to focus on winning the race, I have nothing to lose. If I quit, I quit, and if I win, I win. The others are in a very different position.
