Happy New Year 2011!

First of all, the editorial team at Motors Inside wishes you a happy new year 2011 and hopes that the holidays went well.

With the start of a new year, the various teams in Formula 1 will mostly be presenting their new cars this month, along with their official drivers. Others will be announcing their future drivers. Let’s summarize some of the changes that will take place in this regard.

Red Bull Renault

Christian Horner’s team will not change. The 2011 world champions will keep the same team consisting of Sebastian Vettel, the reigning champion, along with Mark Webber, who was a long-time leader of the 2010 championship.

Ferrari

The Italian team wishes to continue with its current lineup, and Fernando Alonso will be accompanied by Felipe Massa for another year. The establishment of an office dedicated to race strategies has been submitted for discussion to avoid the debacle of the last Grand Prix in 2010.

McLaren Mercedes

The team, which has been increasingly unable to capitalize on its fabulous innovation, the F-duct, is counting on 2011 to bounce back. The team will retain Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, who will want to make up for a difficult season.

Mercedes GP

The team, which had announced its desire to compete at the highest level in 2010, had to settle for clinging to a 4th place, won with difficulty against Renault. The team will retain its two drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, and having started the development of their car very early last year, they hope for better results.

Lotus Renault GP (Formerly Renault F1)

The French team will no longer carry its former name. In 2010, the majority of its capital was held by Genii Capital. A portion was bought by Lotus Cars, which became a main sponsor for seven years. The French team is therefore focusing on its work as an engine manufacturer. As for the drivers, they will be Robert Kubica, who had a very good season, and the rookie Vitaly Petrov, who was long questioned before being officially confirmed.

Williams-Cosworth

Williams has chosen Rubens Barrichello to continue in the future, and the GP2 champion, Pastor Maldonado, to succeed the young Nico Hülkenberg, who despite a pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix, was not retained.

Force India Mercedes

The team has not officially announced any of its drivers to date. However, an announcement is expected to be made this week. Adrian Sutil is the frontrunner to retain his seat, while the second seems to be a choice between Paul Di Resta and Nico Hülkenberg.

Toro Rosso Ferrari

The former team for young talents of Red Bull will have to do without their help. Indeed, the 2011 regulations prohibit possible exchanges between the different teams. Nevertheless, Sébastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari will continue the adventure, with Daniel Ricciardo as the third driver, a very talented runner-up in the World Series By Renault, who was noticed during the rookie tests in Abu Dhabi.

Sauber-Ferrari

The team, which saw Kamui Kobayashi’s debut season, decides to continue the journey with him. Mexican driver Sergio Perez will join him, bringing Telmex as the main sponsor. Peter Sauber chooses youth over experience.

Team Lotus-Renault

The best of the three new teams from 2010 will remain in the competition and has changed its engine supplier to a Renault block. Even though no official announcement has been made yet, Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen are expected to continue with this team.

Marussia Virgin Racing-Cosworth

The team acquires a new main sponsor with Marussia, but will still prefer the use of CFD over a wind tunnel. On the drivers’ side, Timo Glock remains for a second year, while Jérôme d’Ambrosio will take the second seat.

Hispania Racing Team-Cosworth

What can be said about HRT except that it raises questions? The team has so far only revealed the use of their 2010 car for the first private tests of the year, while no driver has been announced. This is normal considering the team needs to find a chassis before thinking about installing drivers.

The first private tests of the year taking place in February, most of the teams that haven’t done so will soon announce their drivers, Motors Inside will of course keep you updated.
