Sebastian Vettel Pole Position 1’23’529
« It was a strange winter, the cars have changed a lot and the tests were really busy. We worked a lot on the Pirelli tires and we were all impressed with how they perform over a lap. It looks promising for Sunday, so we’ll see how we do. We’ve taken a good first step: starting the season from pole position is a good sign for the team. We worked very hard on the RB7 to bring it to where it is now, thanks to the team that prepared it. If you look at the points, we’re all at zero, so we’ll see how everything goes tomorrow. »
Mark Webber 3rd position 1’24’395
« I am disappointed with my performance. Sebastian (Vettel) did a good lap and I am disappointed not to be on the front row. I did my best, but the bar is very high. It’s frustrating but congratulations to the team, they did an incredible job. I wish I could have done better, but the session really represents the team’s work, it’s incredible. »

« A superb performance for the team. First and third at the first Grand Prix of the season is a good start. Sebastian did two incredible laps. Mark lost by a tenth to Lewis, but having both our drivers on the right side of the track is a good place to start the race tomorrow. It’s going to be a fascinating race, especially with the new rules. We are thrilled to offer Pirelli the first pole position since their return. »
