Rankings: Norris gets closer to Leclerc, McLaren overtakes Aston Martin
Thanks to his third position, Lando Norris continues to progress in the rankings. Even though he is the only McLaren driver to have finished the race, his team gains a position.
McLaren is really the team in form, at this end of the season. The British team continues to string together good performances. With notably Lando Norris as leader. The Briton achieved a new podium during this United States Grand Prix.
With this performance, the number 4 driver is only two units behind Charles Leclerc, struggling with his tyres at the end of the race (151 against 153). Ahead of these two men, Lewis Hamilton further widens the gap with Fernando Alonso, forced to retire. The seven-time world champion could even become a threat to Sergio Perez, since he is 22 units behind the Mexican.
To the constructors, McLaren finally surpasses Aston Martin. Despite the withdrawal of Oscar Piastri, Zak Brown’s team has scored enough points than the Greens who have only scored two points, through Lance Stroll. The papayas now have 234 points, against 232 for Aston Martin.
