Narain Karthikeyan believes in qualifying in Malaysia
The two HRTs failed to qualify in Australia.
Narain Karthikeyan is confident about the HRT’s possibility of qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix next week.
The Indian and his teammate Tonio Liuzzi failed to qualify for the opening Grand Prix in Australia, as both cars did not manage to get within 107% of Sebastian Vettel’s fastest Q1 time.
But with more time to drive and this year’s front wing, Karthikeyan believes Hispania should qualify in Sepang.
«If we have the new front wing. Otherwise, we will get it. We are reasonably confident that we will qualify and if all these things happen we will have no excuse if we fail in Malaysia.»
Karthikeyan accepted the stewards’ decision not to allow the team to participate in the race, but he clearly stated that his team was a serious competitor. He also believes that the Spanish team will surprise the public when the car is unveiled.
We respect the 107% rule, we are a serious team. I think we can surprise people. I’m sure I can adapt quickly, I know the Malaysian circuit very well, I love it. Most of the work is done, but the finer details continue endlessly. We need to have a complete car, otherwise there’s no point in participating. We know it’s a bad situation but there’s no reason to complain.
