After failing in his attempt to qualify for the Australian Grand Prix last weekend, the HRT team driver expresses doubts about a possible qualification in Malaysia.

The Italian driver believes that the Sepang circuit, where the next round of the F1 World Championship will take place, is the least favorable regarding the 107% rule: « If I had to identify a track where the 107% rule is the most challenging, I would say Malaysia because of its characteristics ».

The Italian also shared his feeling of frustration during the race, when he was forced to watch the action from the pit: « It was very strange to observe the action from afar ».

However, the former Force India driver remains optimistic about the team’s progress compared to the Australian Grand Prix, attributing his and his teammate Narain Karthikeyan’s failure to qualify to the team’s delay and lack of running. It should be noted that HRT did not participate in any of the winter testing sessions…

But after all, the Grand Prix season is just beginning and the small Spanish team has apparently already planned improvements in Malaysia on the F111 chassis: « We will have new parts on the car, a suitable front wing and a better rear suspension » said Vitantonio Liuzzi…
