Sunday: McLaren Returns to Victory!
After two Grand Prix of enduring Red Bull's domination, McLaren managed to claim victory at the end of a thrilling race, with their strategy being the most suited.
Lewis Hamilton – 1st:
Before departure, I was sitting in the car and thinking, “Well, here we go!”, but the car wouldn’t start. I didn’t ask what was happening, I just wanted to stay calm and not add stress to the team. When I finally left the garage, I was going down the pit lane watching the light, hoping it wouldn’t turn red.
« It is rare to have battles like the ones we saw today, we really had to think about the situation, and I loved this challenge. We still have some way to go to close the gap to Red Bull, but we had the best strategy and managed to implement it. The team will continue to work as hard as ever for the European season. »
I feel so proud, this race is in my top three victories, with Silverstone and Monaco in 2008. I exist, I live, and I breathe to win. I love winning and I couldn’t be happier!
Jenson Button – 4th:
First of all, I want to say congratulations to Lewis, he had a good pace and had a great race today.
I had a very interesting race, during the first relay Sebastian passed me in the pits. I was looking down at the steering wheel to adjust the car, and when I looked up, I saw the whole Red Bull team in front of me, but it didn’t really disturb my race.
These days, having a good strategy is very important, but by the end of the race, I didn’t know where I was heading, I could have been seventh or second. Nevertheless, fourth is a good result, we still have work to do, but this victory is a great source of motivation for the whole team.
