Would Ferrari have bypassed the rules at Fiorano?
A few days ago, on the Fiorano circuit, Massa completed a few promotional laps behind the wheel of his Ferrari F150° Italia. However, certain transalpine observers have suggested that this run may have been used to test significant new developments.
In the afternoon of Friday, April 29th, Felipe Massa completed a few laps on Ferrari’s private track in Fiorano. Originally, these laps were intended to serve as a backdrop for a commercial shoot. However, for a few days now, the Italian press has been reporting surprising information about this supposedly “advertising” session.
The men from Maranello reportedly tested new features on their car, including a different setup, “nose down,” meaning with the rear part of the car slightly raised, in the Red Bull style. Has Ferrari thus discovered the secret of the flexible front wing?
The fact remains that the Scuderia would have taken a very big risk by acting in this way. The sporting regulations indeed prohibit teams from testing new parts during these promotional sessions, during which the car must be in the same configuration as during the last race. It is therefore more likely that Ferrari technicians used this day to test new settings, and this information should, of course, be taken as conditional.
However, it will be necessary to wait for the Turkish Grand Prix, or possibly a straight-line test in Vairano, to officially unveil the new parts of this F150° Italia.
