Saturday: Williams steps up a notch
These qualifications have been the best for Williams since the start of the season with Barrichello in 11th place and Maldonado in 14th place. They just need to confirm this on Sunday.
Rubens Barrichello, 11th:
«After all the work we did this weekend at the factory and on the track, I had to put in a good lap in qualifying and I am very happy with my fast lap. Unfortunately, though, we finished just outside the Top 10, which isn’t so penalizing because we have the freedom of tire choice. We also weren’t using the new rear wing which was one of our upgrades for this race, so it’s a good qualifying session for us to finish 11th despite that.
Pastor Maldonado, 14th:
I have never felt this good after a qualifying session this season. The new parts that the team worked really hard on to ensure we had them for this race have certainly improved the car. It’s now easier to drive, so our efforts have paid off. Due to a problem, I haven’t used the KERS all weekend. If it had worked in qualifying, we would have been three tenths faster. Anyway, we need to focus on tomorrow now. It will be a tough and probably very close race, but I am confident that we can achieve a good result.
