Friday: We work for the race at HRT
The concerns for the small Spanish team returned this weekend, with a second violation of the curfew by the HRT team mechanics. But this time, they allowed the drivers to take part in the practice sessions.
Narain Karthikeyan – 24th, then 23rd
We had some traction problems and quite a bit of oversteer this morning with the hard tires. In the afternoon, we adjusted that and it settled down. We’re trying to work on our new parts; we have some new updates coming tomorrow, which should improve things a bit compared to today. The balance is totally different compared to this winter, so we had to rebalance the car, look at the data, and improve. There’s still a lot of work to do.
Vitantonio Liuzzi – 22nd and 24th
Today is a positive day after all. We had time to do some long stints and understand the tires, to get a better feeling for the car. We had two interesting sessions where we spent a lot of time working on the car’s setup. Both cars have a different package, so it’s important for Narain and me to focus on different aspects. We gathered important data for tomorrow. I am confident that with the overall improvement on the car, we will take a step forward.
Colin Kolles
« The timesheet doesn’t look very good today, but I am confident because I know what we have done, and I think that tomorrow, we will see the real performance of our car. We only did long runs without running with low fuel quantities. We were working on race setups and focused on that, so today’s times reveal nothing. We have aerodynamic improvements and had to evaluate them; the feedback from the drivers and engineers suggests that they are working well. »
