Sunday: A Frustrating Weekend for Lotus Renault

Vitaly Petrov – 11th:

I’m naturally disappointed not to have made better use of my position on the grid and not to have scored some points. It seems that my position on the grid didn’t have much effect on my race, so we need to analyze in detail what happened.

I got off to a good start and climbed to 5th position, but then it was difficult to stay in the lead group, which is where we want to be. But it’s just one result and I want to set things right in Monaco, where qualifying will be extremely important. There’s no doubt about that.

« At least, as a team, we scored some points with Nick so we have to take the positives and move forward. »

Nick Heidfeld – 8th:

I am satisfied with my eighth place after starting from the last position. Like in Turkey, with one or two more laps, I could have gained one or two positions by overtaking the Mercedes, but it’s still a good result if you look at where I started and everything that happened this weekend.

I had a good start then I had to fight in the pack with many overtaking maneuvers so it was fun behind the wheel. It’s always encouraging to put in a good performance and I am happier and more relaxed before Monaco.

Eric Boullier – Team Principal:

I think frustrating is the best word to describe Vitaly’s result because yesterday he could have been faster in his qualifying lap. And today, although he was in a promising sixth place, he lost positions which was not what we expected.

On the other hand, we are happy for Nick who started from the back of the grid to finish eighth. He chased the two Mercedes in the end and almost finished ahead of Nico, so overall he had a good race.
