Thursday: Williams Sees the Light at the End of the Tunnel
The FW33 seems to be performing well on the narrow streets of Monaco. Both drivers of the English team have tested new developments and must now analyze the data to see the real benefits they bring to the car before deciding to use them for the rest of the weekend. The goal will be to qualify well to be in a position to score points on Sunday.
Rubens Barrichello – 13th and 13th:
« We tested different aerodynamic parts on both cars today, which means we now have a lot of information and another busy day tomorrow to analyze all the collected data. »
We also tested the Pirelli super softs, and I think everyone will have positive things to say about them. We should have a good performance in qualifying, but we want the same for the race to score points. Having a good set-up for the race was the main objective today.
Pastor Maldonado – 7th and 15th:
«We did a lot of laps today, particularly in the afternoon, and the car seems consistent. Rubens and I shared the new parts to test them under similar conditions. I had the new flat floor and a standard rear wing. Rubens had the standard flat floor and the new wing. The flat floor on my car works well, but we need to look at the data from Rubens’ car to make the right decision for qualifying and the race.»
