Sergio Pérez was the victim of a violent crash this afternoon during the qualifying session of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Sauber driver lost control of his car at the tunnel exit and collided with the protective wall located between the track and the run-off area. It’s exactly the same type of accident as Nico Rosberg in this morning’s free practice 3, except that the German was lucky not to hit this protective wall.
The concern was palpable in the Monaco paddock after the Mexican’s accident. The Swiss team indicates that their driver has a concussion and a leg injury but no fractures.
It is with great relief that Sauber F1 Team received the news that Sergio Pérez has no serious injuries following his grave accident in the closing minutes of the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying, the team stated in an official release.
The team will investigate the reasons for the accident and will inform the media as soon as it has additional information.
Sauber, on the other hand, has made no statement about Pérez’s possible participation in tomorrow’s race, but it is highly likely that there will be only one C30 on the starting grid for this Monaco Grand Prix.
