Sunday: Tough race for HRT drivers
After not participating in the qualifying session, the two HRT drivers were already lucky to start, but did not trouble the Virgin drivers and did not finish last due to numerous race retirements.
Narain Karthikeyan – 17th
I made a good start as I managed to keep the car well. The car was fast in the first stint. I was ahead of Tonio when I came in for the first stop, and then the safety car came out twice, which is a bit of bad luck and means I lost a lap. But I finished the race in Monaco, which is a circuit that doesn’t allow for mistakes, so it’s very good to have been able to complete every lap. We will come away from this race with positive feelings of having made progress.
Vitantonio Liuzzi – 16th
« It was a good race. I had a problem from the first lap with the power steering, so it was a very difficult race. Luckily, we saw the checkered flag. Sixteenth place is a good result and puts the team in a better position. This result is good to motivate the team for the next races, it was really important to finish the race after the problems we had this week. We overcame our difficulties and it resulted in a positive step in the end. »
Colin Kolles
« It was a very difficult weekend for the team, but everyone worked very hard to achieve the best possible result under these circumstances. We struggled all weekend with balance issues, and due to the reduced track time, we weren’t able to get the most out of our car. Both our drivers finished the race, which is very important. Now, we must look towards Canada where we plan to introduce some upgrades that should improve the car’s performance. »
