Brawn: “Too early to think about transfers”
Mercedes GP has other concerns.
After a difficult 2010 season, Mercedes GP hoped to return to the forefront in 2011. After seven Grand Prix, it is clear that the results are still not forthcoming.
The lack of competitiveness of the MGPW02 does not prevent Nico Rosberg from standing out by regularly being faster than his teammate. So much so that the young German’s name is frequently mentioned in the transfer market.
This situation does not worry Ross Brawn. “This is not the time to talk about future contracts. We have more important issues,” Brawn states.
The Team Principal of the German team acknowledges that Rosberg is doing a good job and that the team will have to work hard to make him want to stay. « He has done a fantastic job and it is a big challenge for Michael to reach his level. Time will tell how long we will collaborate. We must prove that we are an attractive team for drivers. »
If Nico Rosberg were ever to leave the ship, Paul di Resta could be a suitable replacement. The DTM champion is beginning his F1 career this season with the Force India team and is more than holding his own against Adrian Sutil.
The Scotsman had competed against a certain Sebastian Vettel back in the F3 days, and the duel had turned in favor of the former. When asked if di Resta is better than the current world champion, Norbert Haug believes they would need to be in the same car to know. “Today, it’s Sebastian,” admits the German.
