Friday: Studious day for Force India
For once, Nico Hülkenberg was able to participate in the free practice sessions, replacing Adrian Sutil. The latter, always comfortable in the rain, showcased his skills in the afternoon.
Paul di Resta – 11th and 14th
« The track has been wet all day, so we haven’t had the chance to run on a dry surface. It was also quite windy and the conditions weren’t consistent enough to run more than that. However, we seem rather competitive, and the car’s balance seemed good from the start of the day.
It’s really a shame not to have been able to ride more on dry conditions today, but everyone is in the same situation. This means we will have a lot of work to do tomorrow, hoping it doesn’t rain.
Adrian Sutil – Non-participation and 6th
« I didn’t drive this morning, but this afternoon, yes. It started raining just before the session began, and the track remained very wet all afternoon. I spent most of the time on rain tires because there were a lot of puddles on the track. Then, at the end of the session, I was able to do my final stint on intermediate tires.
The weather forecast for tomorrow seems a bit better, so let’s hope we can ride a bit on dry ground.
Nico Hülkenberg – 9th and Did Not Participate
« This morning’s rain meant I spent the entire session on intermediate tires. It was rather calm, without incident, and I completed some good laps.
I worked a little on the balance and tried a rear wing specification loaded with aerodynamic downforce and compared it to our usual setup to collect data.
