Sunday: Force India leaves empty-handed
Force India openly aimed for points before the start of the race this afternoon. Paul di Resta had delivered a very strong performance in qualifying by securing the sixth position. The Scottish driver was holding his ground in the race before a pit stop confusion cost him a lot of time. Adrian Sutil finished 11th and felt that his car was not in the rhythm at the end of the race.
Adrian Sutil – 11th:
« After a promising start, it’s disappointing to leave empty-handed. My start was good and things seemed positive in the first few laps. The conditions were tricky with many wet areas in the second sector, but I felt confident and was able to aim for points. I think we made the right decision with a three-stop strategy, but in the end, I don’t think we had the pace for points today. »
Paul di Resta – 15th:
« It’s very disappointing to finish my first British Grand Prix in 15th position. I had a good first part of the race, we seemed competitive and I was able to keep Jenson behind. I think we changed tires at the right time and we were running well. Then I received a call from the team asking me to return to the pits, and when I came in, the team was waiting for Adrian, so there was apparently a bit of confusion. It cost me a lot of time because the guys had to run to the garage and swap the tires. It cost us about 25 seconds, which seriously compromised my chances. It’s a frustrating race, but I think we need to stay positive because the car was performing well this weekend and it gives me confidence for the second part of the season. »
