Massa will indeed be with Ferrari in 2012

For a few months, numerous rumors have been circulating about the second seat at Scuderia, and several drivers have been mentioned as potentially taking the Brazilian’s place starting next season. Mark Webber and Jenson Button have been considered potential candidates.

Luca di Montezemolo was keen to put an end to these rumors and insisted that there was no doubt about Felipe Massa being alongside Fernando Alonso next season. « Massa and Alonso can always bring something more, » emphasized the president of Ferrari to Sky Italia.

« When I was a young sports director in the sixties, people would have said that the car and the driver accounted for 50-50. Today the single-seater accounts for more, but it’s in those remaining 30% that the driver can make the difference, » explains Montezemolo.

According to Montezemolo, the problem of the Scuderia, which secured its first victory of the season last weekend, does not come from the drivers, and there is therefore no reason to change.

« Alonso is great and Massa is coming back. I think the drivers are not a problem. It’s the time for rumors, but our drivers will remain Alonso and Massa next year. »
