Friday: Satisfying day for Team Lotus
With the replacement of Jarno Trulli by Karun Chandhok, the goal for the Indian driver was to get closer to his teammate over the weekend, while the latter aims to repeat his feat of entering Q2.
Heikki Kovalainen – 17th and 18th
« I am satisfied with our performances today, it’s a good Friday. We did more laps than anyone else and the car seemed good all day. I can feel that we improved the rear of the car which helped us find a good balance quite early, and it worked well with both types of tires, so it’s been a good day’s work. »
Karun Chandhok – 21st and 20th
« It was a good learning day. My main concern was the brakes, as we are using different equipment here compared to my previous team, so I think that’s why I ended up with a lot of flat spots today. I had a few surprises with braking, and some wheel lock-ups, but that was the focus today – getting used to the tires and brakes and putting myself in a position where I could start pushing. I improved my time throughout the day since this morning, by about 1.5 seconds, so I’m happy, and now I’m going to work with the engineers to find more time and keep moving forward tomorrow. »
