Friday: We focus on the race at Toro Rosso
After an encouraging first session, the Toro Rosso drivers faced various difficulties this afternoon, with Sebastien Buemi unable to even complete a single timed lap.
Jaime Alguersuari – 12th and 15th
« It was a good test day for us and I did quite a few laps. We had a busy program, trying things for the future and some different setup scenarios. I did a long stint on the option tires this afternoon and we continue to be better in race conditions than in qualifying simulations. Based on that, I would say we have the possibility to score points on Sunday, but the weather seems uncertain. Tomorrow morning we can look to improve the car for the race and in the afternoon, qualifying will be our limiting factor, as it will be very difficult to be ahead of our main opponents, but I’m very motivated for the race. »
Sebastien Buemi – 13th and 24th
« I had a mishap right at the start of the session this morning, but we continued to run. Then, in the afternoon, it got worse, and the mechanics had to open the car to find the cause, so I couldn’t drive during FP2. In the morning session, I was able to evaluate the soft test components that Pirelli brought us here. Despite the lack of laps, I still believe we can make a step forward tomorrow, when there’s always a chance the weather might change with the threat of rain. So, overnight, we need to fix the car, then decide which settings to use if it rains, and despite today’s difficulties, I still believe we can have a good weekend. »
