Saturday: Mercedes wants to shine in the race
In front of their supporters, the 2 Mercedes drivers entered Q3 and despite some balance issues for Michael Schumacher, the 2 Germans aim to improve in the race.
Nico Rosberg – 6th and 6th
The sixth place is a good position to start from tomorrow, and regardless of whether the weather is rainy or sunny, I think we can have a good race from there. I’m happy with the work we’ve done this weekend and the new parts are working, which is really satisfying. You can see that we’re heading in the right direction. It should be an exciting race tomorrow, and I hope I can gain a few positions in front of all the German fans.
Michael Schumacher – 9th and 10th
« We didn’t deliver the expected performance today because the car I had in my hands wasn’t the same as the one I had during the first stint in P3. It felt like it was sliding everywhere, and the balance wasn’t good. We had a KERS problem this morning, which explains the big gap compared to Nico, even though in qualifying, I was almost a second behind and I could never have fought that time, so we have to deeply examine the reason. Obviously, I tried to push harder to compensate, which led me to make a mistake in the last chicane on my final lap, which probably cost me eighth place. We now need to look at how to improve for tomorrow, and I’ll certainly try to have a good start and achieve as good a race as possible. »

The sixth position of Nico was the best we could get from the car today. Michael was less happy with the balance and there was a mistake on his last lap, but we still have a good basis for tomorrow: our two drivers will start from the top 10. We have made good progress this weekend in understanding our new aerodynamic package and hope to consolidate this work under race conditions. We also learned that Silverstone does not have a monopoly on cold and wet summers! The weather forecast for tomorrow remains mixed, and even though rainy weather guarantees nothing, it offers us opportunities.
