Hamilton wouldn’t bother Alonso at Ferrari

After Lewis Hamilton's statements, where he did not rule out the possibility of driving for the Italian team one day, Fernando Alonso, in turn, was prompted to comment on the prospect of being alongside his great rival again.

Hamilton wouldn’t bother Alonso at Ferrari

During this summer break, news is scarce, and sometimes a simple phrase is enough to whet the media’s appetite. Thus, by responding to the newspaper *AS* when asked if he envisioned a future with Maranello, saying you never know what can happen in the future, Lewis Hamilton provided a great opportunity for the media to indulge in their favorite activity: speculating wildly. On the eve of Ferrari’s Summer Vrooom days in Madonna di Campiglio, the 2008 world champion couldn’t have found a better way to remind Ferrari and Fernando Alonso of himself, which naturally led to journalist inquiries. “It seems to be a normal thing: all drivers want to drive for Ferrari,” explained the Spanish driver. “Some may say it openly, others deny it even if they are thinking about it. For me, it makes me feel even more privileged because I am with Ferrari now and will be for quite a few more years, at least until the end of 2016.”

Many are indeed casting an eye towards Maranello and more specifically on Felipe Massa’s seat, which Stefano Domenicali has not ruled out replacing at the end of his contract in 2012. Thus, Sergio Perez and Jules Bianchi are seen as natural successors to the Brazilian and fit the profile outlined by Stefano Domenicali, while in the longer term, Sebastian Vettel has never hidden his interest in the Scuderia. Therefore, even though he has not expressed a desire or immediate need to join Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has also added his name to the waiting list.

But what does Fernando Alonso think, whose cohabitation with the British driver wasn’t exactly smooth sailing? « I am very happy to have Felipe as a teammate and we work very well together. If one day someone were to replace him, it wouldn’t be a problem for me, even if it’s Lewis Hamilton. »

It remains, nevertheless, publicly known that the Ferrari driver does not want to have a too troublesome teammate alongside him, and that he would have, in this regard, certain contractual guarantees with the Scuderia, which does not seem very inclined to keep two roosters in its henhouse either.
