Friday: HRT is happy with its pace in the rain
If the HRT drivers would have preferred to be able to run more during their return to competition, the behavior of their single-seater in the rain seems to satisfy them.
Vitantonio Liuzzi – 18th and 22nd
« It’s good to be back even if we didn’t run the tests we were hoping for. Today was a typical day at Spa, with unpredictable weather and it’s a shame we couldn’t test as much as we would have liked.
We understood a few things about the car in rainy conditions but, of course, we would have liked to have more data on a dry track. We could only do five laps in these conditions, but I’m sure we could have gone a bit faster with a few more laps.
We have good ideas about the direction to take, and it has turned out that we are relatively strong on a wet track. We need to be prepared for all conditions, but tomorrow and Sunday look to be the same.
Daniel Ricciardo – 24th and 23rd
For the first day here in Spa, the weather was typical: this is what usually happens. We expected it to be a bit wet, but it would have been better if it had been either wet or dry, rather than greasy-wet.
We were at least able to complete a few stints this afternoon with the soft tires, intermediates, and wet tires, which was rather positive even if they were only short stints.
When we wanted to make setting changes the weather was changing too, so it was a bit frustrating but it wasn’t such a bad day and we’ll see how it develops tomorrow.
