Toro Rosso confirms agreement with Cepsa
The information had been circulating for a week and is now official.
A few days before the Italian Grand Prix, Scuderia Toro Rosso confirmed that it had signed a significant agreement with the oil company Cepsa.
This partnership takes effect immediately, and the Cepsa logos will already be visible on the Italian race cars starting Friday during the first free practice sessions of the Italian Grand Prix. More specifically, the logos will be placed on the nose, wing, and rear endplates, as well as on the suits, demonstrating the importance of this deal.
This season, Toro Rosso seems to be financially distancing itself from Red Bull. The agreement with Cepsa comes after the deal signed with the Swiss bank Falcon earlier this year. The arrival of this new sponsor is obviously a source of joy for team principal Franz Tost, who hopes to steer the team in the right direction.
« To build the team, to have more staff and improve performance, you need a bit of money. We are in a position where new sponsors are arriving, and with Red Bull I am happy to have these companies by our side, » Tost explains to Autosport.
« With a better position in the constructors’ championship, we will have more income, but at the same time, we will spend it. »
Toro Rosso is currently eighth in the championship, 10 points behind Force India and 13 behind Sauber.
