Friday: Tomorrow is another day for Team Lotus
The Lotus Team is not completely satisfied with its first day of testing. The team encountered various issues and needs to improve grip with the medium tires provided by Pirelli. Jarno Trulli is not satisfied with the balance of the T128 but thinks it should be better tomorrow.
Karun Chandhok – 20th and did not participate:
« I am quite happy with my performances this morning. The car was good from the first lap and it was nice to have some time in the cockpit. Track time is always limited on Friday mornings, especially when there is a bit of dust on the track, but today I focused on evaluating certain aerodynamic solutions and we completed the program, so I think I did well today. »
Heikki Kovalainen – 19th and 19th:
« It wasn’t too bad, but we can clearly do better. This morning’s session was quickly cut short due to a gearbox problem. This afternoon we worked with both types of tires and I think the softs were good, but we didn’t get the best out of the mediums, which gives us work to do tonight to improve the grip. »
Jarno Trulli – did not participate and 18th:
« It was a busy Friday afternoon for me, but honestly, I am not at all satisfied with the car’s balance at the moment. There is a lot of understeer in the corners, and we need to work on finding more speed. There is clearly more to come, and we have shown since the beginning of the season that we were capable of making progress between Friday and Saturday, so I think we will be fine tomorrow. »
