Mercedes GP offers a 3-year contract to Rosberg
The German brand wishes to keep its driver for the long term.
It is known that Mercedes wants to keep Nico Rosberg in their team for the coming years. However, the rather disappointing performances of the German cars over the past two years might make Rosberg consider whether the grass is greener elsewhere.
If the transfer market is relatively calm this season, next year there could be numerous changes and competitive seats available for drivers of Rosberg’s caliber, which does not seem to leave team bosses indifferent. This is why Mercedes has offered its driver a new three-year contract.
« Nico and Mercedes are interested in a very long-term collaboration, » indicated Norbert Haug to the German newspaper Bild.
The current contract between Rosberg and the star-branded company ends at the end of the 2012 season. The new contract proposed by Mercedes would bind the two parties until 2015. Even if the results are not yet up to expectations, Rosberg has no doubt that the German manufacturer will soon provide him with a car capable of competing for victory. “When I see what is happening at the factory, I am very confident,” says the 26-year-old driver.
The question is whether Nico Rosberg will decide to secure his future with the silver arrows quickly or if he will wait to see the competitiveness level of the upcoming W03, leaving himself the option to look elsewhere in 2013, knowing that the transfer market is likely to be quite lively next season.
