Friday: HRT will have a lot of work tomorrow
This first day of testing was disrupted by rain and, therefore, did not allow the HRT team to prepare optimally for the rest of the weekend, which is expected to take place in dry conditions. Nonetheless, Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed his day, which allowed him to gain experience in these challenging conditions.
Narain Karthikeyan – 15th (FP1):
« I had never driven in Korea before and the weather conditions were not ideal. It didn’t help me prepare for the Indian Grand Prix because it will probably be dry there. But it was still positive to be able to gather some data on wet conditions and I hope it helped the team. Overall, I’m satisfied with the work done today. »
Vitantonio Liuzzi: – 24th (FP2):
« The track conditions were really difficult and like last year it struggled to dry. The slow corners were the worst. At the end, we did a few laps with the intermediates but it was too dry for them and too wet for the slicks. I didn’t drive this morning so I had to try to find the right rhythm despite the conditions. We have some good information but not enough on the balance of the car. Tomorrow will be like a Friday session, once again. »
Daniel Ricciardo – 16th and 23rd:
« It was very humid today, but that’s not a bad thing because I need experience on wet conditions. However, we expect the weekend to be dry, so today might not mean much for the rest of the Grand Prix. For us, it means a bit more work tomorrow to try to find the best setup quickly. Then I have to learn the track in dry conditions as fast as possible. It was a good day nonetheless since we completed some laps. It’s hard to predict how the weekend will go, but we’ll see tomorrow. »
