Friday: Mercedes GP did not waste their day

Despite the rainy weather at the Yeongam circuit, the Mercedes GP team is satisfied with its first day of testing. Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher tried different setups and believe they have a good foundation for the rest of the weekend, even though it is expected to be drier tomorrow and Sunday.

Friday: Mercedes GP did not waste their day

Nico Rosberg – 8th and 8th:

I was comfortable with the intermediate tires this afternoon and we tried different setups. My car was running well in today’s conditions, but the weather should change on Saturday and Sunday. It will be interesting to see how things go tomorrow. The collision (with Alguersuari) was a tricky situation and unfortunately ended my session, but at least I didn’t miss any dry track time.

Michael Schumacher – 1st and 14th:

Today was one of those Fridays where you prepare for the race knowing that the conditions will probably be completely different on Sunday. There was too much water during both sessions to use slick tires while the weather forecast predicts good conditions for the rest of the weekend. Despite this, you can learn a lot about the car and how the track works. That’s what we did today. We now need to look at the data we’ve collected and try to work our best for the rest of the weekend.
