Saturday: Glock satisfied and D’Ambrosio disappointed at Virgin

Timo Glock – 21st and 21st:

It was a great weekend so far, and today went well compared to the last Grand Prix where we had a few more setup issues. The car was very good in wet conditions yesterday, which made me comfortable for today because if the car is good on wet, it will also be good on dry, and that was the case this morning, from the first lap. We just fine-tuned the settings because, for us, there is a lot of grip here and it suits the car.

I had a good qualifying session with a small mistake in turn no. 5 that cost me a bit of time, but overall, we’re nine-tenths behind Team Lotus. The team did a great job, especially my engineers who worked well together to ensure everything went smoothly.

Now, we need to focus on managing the tires during the race and we’ll see what we can do tomorrow.

Jerome D’Ambrosio – 22nd and 22nd:

« It was not a good day for me. The rhythm is not there and it has been the case all weekend. There is obviously something going wrong even if we are not sure yet where it comes from, so we will need to analyze it and understand it before tomorrow. »

John Booth, Team Principal:

« Following the weather conditions we had yesterday, this morning’s tests were quite intense. Both drivers were experiencing understeer, and by exploring the telemetry data and examining the tires, we were able to identify some leads on the origin of the problem.

In qualifying, Jerome kept his settings while Timo made some adjustments. Jerome didn’t seem able to improve during his second stint, and we will study the car’s data. On a more positive note, Timo put in a good lap, which he is happy about.

It was rather a surprise to see some of the top drivers do Q1 on super soft tires, and it can give us some indications regarding the tire choice for tomorrow.
