Doriane Pin elected WEC’s revelation of the year
After the 8 hours of Bahrain, the female driver competing in LMP2 was honored at the World Endurance Championship awards ceremony.
Only 19 years old and already an important position in the world of motorsport. The young driver of the Iron Dames project has just completed her first full season of the World Endurance Championship.
Engaged in LMP2, alongside Mirko Bortolotti and Daniil Kvyat, she had a solid start to the championship at the Sebring circuit, where she became the first woman to step on the WEC podium in the LMP2 category, finishing in second place for her debut.
The following race, in Portimao, she became the first woman to start from pole position in this championship. At Le Mans, the most important race of the year, her crew was forced to retire during the night after her teammate, Daniil Kvyat, crashed off the track.
« This reflects all the work I have accomplished this year »
In addition to this disappointment, the young Frenchwoman received the “Revelation of the Year” award from the FIA, the day after the WEC final in Bahrain. « It is a great honor and humility for me to receive this award. Being crowned “Revelation of the Year” in such a prestigious and competitive championship as the WEC means a lot to me. It reflects all the hard work I have accomplished this year. I would like to thank those who gave me this opportunity and trusted me », rejoices Doriane Pin.
I have evolved a lot as a driver and as a person. I will remember this year for a long time, my first season in WEC for the Iron Dames project, my first podium at Sebring, and my first 24 Hours of Le Mans. I take this award as an additional motivation to continue learning and pushing my limits in order to achieve my dreams.
