Dani Clos test driver at HRT
The HRT team announced the recruitment of Dani Clos. The young Spaniard has been chosen to be the test and reserve driver for the Spanish team.
The Hispania Racing Team announced today the arrival of Dani Clos as a test driver. He had already had the opportunity to drive with the Spanish team during the young driver tests in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2011. But this contract should allow him to drive more.
He will be present alongside Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan at the various Grand Prix events of the 2012 season. He should even have the opportunity to drive during several Friday practice sessions. He expressed his delight at starting to get a taste of his dream of being a Formula 1 driver.
I am proud to be part of the HRT Formula 1 team. It is an important step in my career, something I have dreamed of all my life, and the dream is finally starting to become reality. I am impressed by the work the team is doing; they have achieved fantastic things in a very short time. The team has changed a lot since our meeting for the Abu Dhabi tests, and I think it’s a good opportunity and an honor to be part of this new team, Clos said in a statement released by HRT.
The arrival of the Spanish driver is part of the restructuring undertaken by the team, which particularly aims to rely on young talents, preferably Spanish – which is the case with Dani Clos, who has been participating in the GP2 championship for three seasons now, with his best ranking being a 4th place finish in 2012 along with a victory that same year.
