Conventional nose for HRT and Marussia
Even though HRT and Marussia have not yet unveiled their 2012 cars, these two teams have reportedly chosen, like McLaren, a conventional nose instead of a platypus nose.
A first computer-generated image of the HRT F112 has recently been unveiled, and it seems that the Spanish team has made a cautious choice regarding the front nose of its 2012 car. It has not decided to imitate other teams on the grid that have equipped their cars with a platypus-style nose—except for McLaren.
HRT is not the only small team to have made this choice. In fact, the 2012 Marussia should also feature a conventional nose. At least that’s what Auto Motor und Sport believes – even though the Russian team’s car is not set to be presented until next week.
« In fact, there is little theoretical difference between these two solutions. So why take a risk with something we don’t know? » explains a Marussia source quoted by the German magazine.
The information remains to be confirmed during the launch of the two single-seaters, but the HRT and Marussia teams have apparently not gambled on a stepped nose following the new rule on the height of front noses implemented by the FIA a few weeks ago.
