Lotus: A day of testing on Monday at Silverstone
The Lotus team had to prematurely leave the Barcelona tests due to the discovery of an issue with the E20. The team therefore lost four days of testing, but it was reportedly allowed to make up for one day on the Silverstone circuit on Monday.
The Lotus F1 team had to end its testing program in Barcelona on Tuesday after discovering a problem with the E20. The chassis was sent back to Enstone to be inspected in more detail and to resolve the issue.
The British team was therefore only able to cover 7 laps on the first day of testing and none on the following three. Thus, it lost four days of testing—out of the 12 pre-season tests scheduled, which is not insignificant. Several reports circulated yesterday about a possible request made by Lotus to recover the lost days, which requires the unanimous agreement of the other teams.
It seems that the Enstone team did not win their case, at least not completely, because according to RMC, Lotus should still be able to run all day on Monday – February 27th – at the Silverstone circuit, which is located near their factory. Lotus F1 is said to have received the agreement of the other teams to make up a testing day so as not to be completely penalized compared to its rivals.
