Formula One Management (FOM), led by Bernie Ecclestone, has announced the arrival of a new partner for the Formula 1 World Championship, the Indian company Tata Communications. The contract spans several years, although the exact duration has not been specified.

Tata Communications will be responsible for hosting the official Formula 1 website. The Indian company will also be in charge of Formula 1’s computer network, and it will work with FOM to prepare for the future, likely with projects related to connectivity to provide F1-related information on any platform.

The two parties will also work together on video technologies, likely to enhance the integration of information on images provided by the FOM.

This is a tremendous opportunity for Tata Communications according to its CEO, as it will allow the company to gain worldwide recognition – its logo will likely be visible during the 20 Grand Prix events held around the world.

Formula 1 requires fast and secure connectivity because a fraction of a second can have enormous repercussions for the brand and its reputation. This service is at the heart of our organization, and working with some of the most technical and innovative companies in the world is a tremendous opportunity for Tata Communications. This partnership builds on our technological leadership and our vision for emerging markets, which represent a tremendous opportunity for growth and innovation for both our companies, Vinod Kumar, the head of Tata Communications, said in a statement published on the official Formula 1 website.

This partnership is also a good thing for F1 according to Ecclestone because it will allow it to stay at the forefront of certain technologies and implement interesting solutions for certain issues.

I am delighted to welcome Tata Communications to the Formula 1 family and hope this is the beginning of a long and successful relationship. Connectivity and content delivery are critical issues for Formula 1, and working with the best in this field is a priority for us. This is a collaboration that will help us stay at the forefront of technology in these areas, explains Bernie Ecclestone in the statement.
