Barcelona Testing 2 – Ferrari and Red Bull Adjust Their Dates
The last pre-season testing session is scheduled to take place from March 1 to 4 at the Circuit de Catalunya, but Ferrari and Red Bull have decided to postpone their tests by one day. They will therefore test their 2012 single-seaters from March 2 to 5.
Ferrari has decided to run from March 2 to 5 for the upcoming tests in Barcelona, not from the 1st to the 4th as initially planned. The Italian team is not the only one to make this choice; Red Bull has also decided to do the same.
The F2012 and RB8 will therefore be on track at different times for this final pre-season testing session. Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull Racing, stated that his team made this choice from a logistical standpoint – likely to manufacture new parts and have the opportunity to test them before the start of the season.
«We decided to join Ferrari to drive from Friday to Monday rather than from Thursday to Sunday. We are shifting everything by one day. From a logistical point of view, it makes perfect sense. We asked Ferrari if we could join them, and they agreed,» Horner told Autosport.
This won’t change much a priori, because like their rivals, these two teams will run for four days. There will only be a one-day gap, and it will still allow all the teams to run together for three days to make any possible comparisons in terms of pure performance.
